Meet the Doctors

Dr. Amanda Cheng

Dr. Amanda Cheng obtained her Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and completed her specialty training in Orthodontics and Craniofacial Orthopedics at the University of Minnesota. In downtown San Francisco, she is 1 of 6 Certified Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Cheng’s exceptional skills allowed her to study under some of the world’s best orthodontists at both Harvard and the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Cheng treats children and adults with obstructive sleep apnea. By treating children with sleep apnea using skeletal expansion, the risk of sleep apnea developing in adulthood is reduced. For adults with mild to moderate sleep apnea, mandibular advancement devices such as the Oventus O2 Vent can be used. For adult patients with severe sleep apnea, Dr. Cheng will work in conjunction with Dr. Sodeifi to design jaw surgeries to widen the airway to reduce apnea and life threatening co-morbidities such as hypertension and diabetes. Dr. Cheng has treated over 1000 patients and is passionate about technology. She lectures about 3D Printing in orthodontics and focuses on bringing the best care for her patients through advancements in esthetic and accelerated treatments. Dr. Cheng has done many years of research on oral and dental health and has presented her research findings across the globe from Barcelona to Beijing. She is also passionate about global health and has worked with the Pediatric AIDS Treatment Support (PATS) Project to provide dental care in Anhui China for HIV positive children and was a lecturer at the Beijing School of Somatology being fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Dr. Michael Sodeifi

Dr. Sodeifi is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who has been in practice since 2003. Dr. Sodeifi performs many complex, multi-piece jaw surgeries for patients with severe sleep apnea at Stanford. With his extensive surgical knowledge on treating patients with sleep apnea, he teaches Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pacific in San Francisco. Dr. Sodeifi is dual trained in Dentistry (DMD) and Medicine (MD). He obtained his Doctor of Medical Dentistry and Masters in Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University. He then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he also completed his General Surgery internship and residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with a wide exposure to trauma surgery. A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Sodeifi co-founded Silicon Valley Surgical Arts (SVSA) and San Francisco Surgical Arts (SFSA). He maintains an active multidisciplinary surgery center that focuses on using cutting edge technology for dental implant surgery and general oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has pioneered techniques in immediate implant placement and provisionalization in order to maintain aesthetic morphology of soft tissue and comfort for patients. He attributes his broad background in maxillofacial reconstruction from his training in trauma surgery in the midwest. He works very closely with general dentists, orthodontists and other health care practitioners to provide the best comprehensive care for his patients in the Bay Area.
